Review of Heavy Metal in Baghdad (2007) by Shannon A — 30 Jun 2008
Watching this film with my teenaged metal-head sons was a wonderful, edifying, engaging, and moving experience. These young Iraqi musicians just want to have the freedom and safety to make music, entertain fans, and live their art and music.
Seeing how they struggled over several years, eventually becoming refugees yet still keeping hope and music alive, really brought to light how spoiled we are here. It was wonderful and heartwrenching and uplifting and so much more.
I highly recommend this film.
