Review of Heaven on Earth (2008) by Bernard N — 26 Mar 2009
Not my cup of tea, despite the good imdb ratings. This falls under strange directing the likes of Ki-duk Kim or David Lynch. Couldn't get the purpose of certain B&W scenes, could it be Preity's inner psyche being triggered (the cobra's reality surfacing)? The story feels real, not surprised that such marriages do happen and dysfunctional families exist.
It's probably true of such migrants' lifestyles, maybe it's a change for the better to them, but they seem miserable. Yet they still encourage more to migrate over. The characters that seem normal are the kids and Preity of course.
Beginning was promising, but midway I couldn't resist fast forwarding to the end of the movie... it was that slow.. and it's a tiring weekday.
