Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Chris W — 27 Nov 2007
All who see Apocalypse Now are required to see Eleanor Coppola's document of husband Frances' descent into madness during the filming of his war epic. He speaks his mind, often calling the film a piece of shit, fearing for his career to fall apart, and he even goes so far as to say Martin Sheen post-heart attack ain't dead til he says he's dead.
Some call it the best documentary ever about the making of a film, but if you want true madness then look to Burden of Dreams which covers the making of Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo.
