Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Anoop K — 06 Jan 2013
Often considered the greatest documentary on making of a film, Hearts of Darkness deserves the reputation it has. Mixing on-set footages and interviews done years later, the documentary looks back into one of the most elaborate and troubled productions in the history of cinema.
The director and editor have done a fantastic job to convey the total chaos and the horror of a film production that threatens to spiral out of control any time. You got to watch it to see how much horror can a "200 days of filming" board with celebratory fireworks can convey.
A must watch for anybody who is seriously interested in cinema.
