Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Dirk Scrotumsky 7 — 05 Mar 2009
A fantastic documentary about the making of Francis Ford Coppola's epic war movie. And just like the movie itself, we witness a man's journey into madness.
Shot by Eleanor Coppola (Francis' wife), the documentary shows us the dark side of film making. We watch as production go way over schedule and over budget (Coppola had to mortgage his house and finance the movie with his own money) and we hear actual recorded conversations between Coppola and his wife where he complains about how he knows he has a bad movie on his hands and how he just wants to shoot himself in the head.
It's a must see, even if you're not a fan of the movie.
