Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Daniel K — 27 Jan 2016
One of the best films about the making of films I have ever seen. In some ways it may be better than Apocalypse Now itself - which you should probably watch first, or else this film won't mean as much to you.
Thank goodness Eleanor Coppola had the sense to make and keep hold of the tapes and footage which form the core of this fascinating documentary. I'm not sure there's much more I can say about it.
Just a brilliant documentary for anyone who's interested in films and the obsessive instincts that lead someone to try and create something as insanely ambitious as Apocalypse Now.
