Review of Heart of Glass (1976) by Carfax A — 09 Jul 2015
What happens when a small remote village in 18th century Bavaria loses its master glass blower who was the only cat to know the secret of this craft??? DEVASTATION ....DEPRESSION..... TOTAL ANARCHY involving the towns folk and one midget.....
This movie from the great Werner Herzog is indeed a interesting piece if film work...It has atmosphere ,it has very bazaar characters, it has amazing cinematography, it has a amazing soundtrack by Pophol Vol and it has balls baby....because Warner claims he did the ballsiest thing a crazy ass , eccentric, brilliant German director could do....he had all the actors, except for the main lead, hypnotized for their performances ... HYPNOTIZED folks ....as in your getting sleepier and sleepier, now when I count to 3, you will wake up and slap the shit out of the person sitting to your right.......
Apparently according to Herzog, he wanted a real feel of loss...a feel of the soul being taken away from these people who lost something magical and mystic in their lives....I for one think he succeeded ..
So grab the kids and staple their eyes open, because this will be boring as hell to anyone under the age of 29, and enjoy the weird chaos that follows.....and I do mean w.e.i.r.d.....
