Review of Häxan (1922) by Samuel D — 12 Aug 2007
Despite an uneven feel, this is neverless well-made and very entertaining. Consists of an overview of the history of superstition, a showcasing of medieval torture devices, a weak thesis on how modern-day victims of hysteria are not much better off than those thought to be witches long ago, and numerous sketches of medieval witch-parties where Satan pops up every now and then and behaves like a silly goose.
