Review of Häxan (1922) by Michael J — 25 Jul 2012
A very interesting and somewhat foreboding silent occult/horror film with serious and not so implicit social commentary! I was surprised at some of the unsettling and creepy scenes and images presented here; particularly in the sabbat scenes! Although I have to admit that the somewhat 'whimsical' nature of the score and the fact that it never really seemed to change emotion musically to match the very dramatic and sometimes creepy visuals was somewhat disappointing.
I appreciate what I saw and would recommend it to the right kind of person, but I would love to also see a version come out with what would be, in my opinion, a more appropriate soundtrack.
