Review of Hatchet II (2010) by Kevin R — 19 Oct 2011
Times are tough and money is money.
A bayou butcher known as Victor Crowley recently butchered slayed a party just outside of New Orleans. A female survivor, the local voodoo reverend, and a slew of trackers and hunters head into the bayou to extract revenge. Will they achieve their goal?
"Come here you hatchet faced fuck!".
Adam Green, director of Coffee and Donuts, Hatchet, and Frozen, delivers Hatchet II. The storyline for this picture is fairly straightforward for the slasher genre and reminded me a little of Howling II (minus the hottie vampire leader). The acting is nothing special but the gore is better than average. The cast includes Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Parry Shen, and Alexis Peters.
"Touching walking hepatitis over here? I'll pass.".
Hatchet was a film that was positively reviewed on the joblo website so I decided to give it a shot. It was a classic slasher flick with a predictable story but great gore. This picture is pretty much the same with a less creative plot, equally bad acting, and better than average gore. This is worth your time if you are a fan of the genre but a below average film overall.
"Fuck you dad and I hope that you're watching.".
Grade: C-.
