Review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) by Dan M — 27 Nov 2016
4 out of 5 stars! I just recently re-watched this after a 5 year break from the series and I have to say that I always thought that this was the weakest story of the 7 and in some ways it still might be, but it is actually one of the most important if not the most important of the stories.
It is the one that really starts to lay down the threads that make up the conflict and story arc that shapes the rest of the series, particularly the final few films. This one kind of gets lost in the shuffle of the 7 stories and 8 films, but it is a vey important one to the mythology.
JK already knew where he was going with the entire story arc of the series by the time she wrote this. She introduced the first horcrux 3-4 books before we even knew what horcruxes were. Ginny and Harry's relationship is first hinted at, and there are so many other small and large things introduced and character building that happened that makes this an essential story in the series.
