Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Paul R — 17 Jul 2013
Harry Brown is a must see. It shows the true gritty and horribly realistic states of inner city crime ridden estates that Hollywood NEVER show. Britain is often portrayed as rolling green hills and plummy posh people.
Harry Brown takes you deep into the estates where many people are unfortunately trapped. The story follows Harry an ex-servicemen who is losing the last few friends he has and how his day to day life is changed by these circumstances.
Michael Caine is amazing and carries this film even higher - I can't imagine it working with anyone else. The story is by no means surprising - infact you can see everything coming but the direction is top rate and gives an interesting, tense and dark look to the film.
.. but Caine is the true star of the show. You are hooked on his character and feel every painful step and breath he takes. Watch this.
