Review of Harry Brown (2009) by James M — 08 Sep 2011
Bloody depressing! Never been a Michael Cain fan but couldnt imagine this film without him. Delivers a vision of inner city anti-social behaviour that is at once both utterly realistic and incomprehensible.
From the very start it dares you not to be appaled. Arguably its greatest fault is it never delves into the causes of the deprivation, instead it doesnt hide that its all about rooting for the revenge.
The acting and dialogue are totally convincing and its set piece is nicely handled. A hard watch but a worthwhile one.
