Review of Hard Candy (2005) by Rachael H — 28 Feb 2012
This was intense movie. Going in, I knew the first initial twist, but nothing that came after that. A very well done script, that is handled extremely well by Page and Wilson, considering this movie is basically a two man show, minus Sandra Oh popping in for literally five minutes.
It was interesting to see a younger Ellen Page at work. She does a great job in this movie, but she has also come a long way since it, which is nice. This is Patrick Wilson's best role I've seen yet, in my opinion.
Also, the cinematography was really well done. They made it interesting so that as an audience, you didn't get bored, but they also didn't hit the other extreme, which was doing a whole ton of camera work to appear "artsy" which was nice.
Overall, this movie contains difficult subject matter-parts that had me squirming a bit-but was handled extremely well by all involved.
