Review of Hard Boiled (1992) by Dave A — 20 May 2008
You will NEVER look at an action film the same way again. The American action genre has been neutered in comparison to John Woo's downright brilliant masterpiece about a cop and the associate he knows is undercover for a mob boss.
This movie is brilliant in so many ways that every American action film pales in comparison. Woo knows how to stage a real gunfight on film and for the first time, a gunfight can't be perceived as just a way to shoot, but a breathtaking, physical beauty that only Woo could shoot.
