Review of Hard Boiled (1992) by Colin S — 12 Aug 2008
Perfection. Woo and Chow at their very best. Glorious gun fu ballet in its natural form, before it was turned into routine pap by Hollywood. Leung is also a marvellous mirror image of Chow's hero Tequila.
This is must-see cinema, if at the very least to understand better the ultimate predecessor of modern action films, but mostly just to enjoy the action. Also, the humour is outstanding - be sure to grab yourself a copy which translates Chow's rap song in the hospital.
