Review of Hard Boiled (1992) by Mike A — 20 Nov 2008
Woo's final Hong Kong film is an unparallelled action film. Like Woo's other films from this time period, the story focuses on masculine relationships, loyalty, and redemption. Hard Boiled is definitely Woo's most polished film (until his move to Hollywood), and the action has such a kinetic energy, yet remains fluid and surprisingly graceful.
Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung try to out-cool each other. It's an astoundlingy entertaining film.
