Review of Hard Boiled (1992) by Cuz'n S — 04 Feb 2009
Put aside that some of the background music is quite dated (a holdover from some 80's ugliness), and the godawful dubbing .. this movie is what other action movies aspire to be. John Woo at his best. The action sequences are absoutely fantastic. The set peice in the warehouse and the finale in the hospital are shot with a clear eye for details and angles. Chow and Tony are fantastic and the actor who plays 'Mad Dog' is unforgetable.
Dialogue is not it's strong point (maybe its the translation) but the relatively complex story and betrayals are well thought out and performed.
