Review of Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai (2011) by Owen Y — 20 Aug 2012
So utterly depressing, with little redeeming value beyond the beautiful Japanese sets. As far as action, just start the movie and start cooking, by the time you have chicken ready it's only another forty five minutes and then you can catch the last fifteen minutes, which have one action scene. I love samurai flicks, even nonviolent Eastern flicks like Memoirs of a Geisha, but this one I really wish I'd missed.
EDIT: Oh, and the "ending no one could see coming" that they mention under MOVIE INFO is trash, I figured it out about halfway through the movie and just waited hoping there would be an additional twist, but that was it. Just... it. NOt only was the movie depressing in its content but in its execution, I am very disappointed.
