Review of Hannibal Rising (2007) by Russell L — 13 Jun 2009
It was a very long drawn out revenge movie. While it adequately explains why Lecter becomes who he is, part of what makes Hannibal Lecter an interesting character is the mystery surrounding him. Now that we know his dark past, his character is a fraction of what it was.
He was a teenager with a grudge who made it his sick pleasure to eat people he disliked. I liked all the Hannibal Lecter movies until this one. That said, it's not a terrible movie, but full of sadistic murder from start to finish.
