Now I know why I held off from watching this for so long. Hands down, the worst film in the Hannibal Lecter series and a bad movie overall. The actor who portrayed Lecter came off more like a caricature and the plot was dull and full of cliches.
An obsolete origin film that fails to add any breadth (in fact it takes it away) to Hannibal Lecter. The only thing it had going for it was Gong Li, hottest Asian actress ever. But I can see her in a ton of other films.
From here on out, in my mind, Im going to exclude this film from the series. It doesn't deserve to be set alongside Manhunter or Silence of the Lambs. It made that other stinker, Hannibal, look good!
