Review of Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) by Kevin B — 25 Oct 2010
I rewatched this for the first time in years, and I still love it.
Thoughts:
If Elliot (Michael Caine) loves Lee (Barbara Hershey) here, all permed and gray-toothed, imagine what he'd think of her lately, (ex-)girlfriend of Naveen Andrews and pillowy lipped and beautiful.
Dianne Wiest's role seems written for someone closer to 30 (as Carrie Fisher was here) than 38 (as Wiest was), but she's so awesome, it doesn't matter.
The idea of being the girlfriend of a much older man who wants to teach me the world, a la Max von Sydow here, is much less appealing to me now.
I want all the apartments, but still, especially Hannah and Elliot's. Ooh!
Just a perfect movie.
