Review of Hamlet (1990) by David G — 30 Jul 2007
Gibson plays his usual unhinged and vengeful character, which suits the part quite well. But this version has been abridged to within an inch of its life. Where are the other three hours? Fortingbrass doesn't even appear in this at all.
And Glenn Close is dire as Gertrude. In some scenes, she actually appears to be reading her lines off an idiot board.
