Review of Hamlet (1990) by Kara N — 10 Feb 2013
Zeffirelli's Hamlet is a terrible version of the timeless play by William Shakespeare. A combination of components result in the downfall of this movie. Fortenbras is not so much as mentioned, which is an outrage because he is Hamlets FOIL character! Also, Hamlet, with his dying breath, appoints Fortanbras to the throne.
My major issue with this movie is the acting. When speaking it seems that they have no idea what they are saying or the emotion in the scene is wrong. Shakespeare's characters have layers and layers of motion that must be used when portraying the character.
The biggest mistake that was made in this movie was the casting. This movie is not worth watching, especially if you love Shakespeare.
