There were a few movies that absolutely revolutionized the war movie genre as we know it: full metal jacket, platoon and Hamburger Hill. Hamburger Hill is a Vietnam reality series. The war scenes are not the best graphics and pyrotechnics but they make it real for the period that it was in.
The acting is pretty good but there has been much better. This movie is very intense with decent cinematography and lighting. A must see war movie due to it's classic aspect of period peice but not one of the best ones.
