Review of Halloween II (1981) by Jake N — 01 Aug 2010
'Halloween II' is just another slasher sequel that doesn't work. At least it's not as bad as most slasher sequels, but it still doesn't succeed. 'Halloween II' isn't scary, terrifying, or creepy like the first.
It's not scary at all. Sometimes 'Halloween II' brings scenes that seem to repeat some of the scene in the first. Only that they tried to change it up a little bit, but it's still very annoying when sequels have similar scenes or basically anything similar from a first movie and they try to cover it up by using something different.
Understand what I'm trying to say? There are only a few shocking scenes in 'Halloween II' that may make you jump out of your seat a little, but not a whole lot. There is one jaw-dropping shocking twist between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode that you find out about near the end of the movie.
I'd have to say pay full attention to the movie even though it's not very good because if you don't and it shows the scene about what Michael Myers and Laurie Strode have in common you might not be able to follow it because you didn't pay attention to it.
You will be bored and you will want it to end at some point, but when you are at the most shocking unexpected scene in the movie, that's a sign that it's close to the end of the movie. Another thing I liked about this sequel is that there were some funny murder scenes that were so ridiculous it was funny.
For a spoiler, in one scene a boy is in the hospital and sees a lot of blood on the floor. He walks in the blood and sees that somebody has been killed. Then he tries to turn around to warn everybody in the hospital that Michael's here, but then right as he tries to turn around he slips, lands on his back, breaks his back and dies.
It's a scene that you have to be there to see to find it funny. There a few other funny murder scenes then just that, but I'd rather saying more of my option on the movie. The film isn't like most bad slasher films that are nothing but killing, this sort of has plot and makes sense a little, and from its most shocking scene in the movie doesn't make this a bad slasher movie.
Still, I didn't like 'Halloween II' very much.
