Review of Halloween II (1981) by Richard C — 18 Oct 2010
I think I like this one more than the iconic original. It picks up in the same reel as the last film (almost) as though you'd pressed pause on your remote in between part I and II. So of course it kicks off in the cliffhanger that you were left with, and surprisingly all events that follow complement the first film quite well even if it's under direction of a different director.
It doesn't waste time with boring overextended introductions of characters like the first film and just gets straight into a dilemma, and afterwards it's constant suspense, however minimal it gets tucked away in the back of your mind.
There are plenty of characters dispersed about for Michael Myers to eerily and slowly track down and off, and every other corner has a jump scare. And the plot revelations of Michael Myers' past and the satanic occult are unfolded at appropriate times.
