Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Eric C — 05 Sep 2009
What do you get when you mix a Halloween film with Dawson's Creek? You get Halloween H20 that's what.
I found this film to try TOO hard at being like the original. And much of it didn't work. Still its a breath of fresh air to have something different from blood and guts out the ass.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns and does a good job reprising the role that helped her break into Hollywood. Unfortunately at times she seems not too into it. Which is weird since this film was made from an idea she had to reunite everyone. The other characters in the film fall incredibly short and are just there for a body count. This is what hurts the film for me.
Chris Durand is Michael Myers this time and sport 3 of the stupidest looking Myers mask ever shown on screen(one is completely CGI). Probably my least favorite Michael Myers of all. Yes even over Resurrection.
With the exception of the Ottman remix of the Carpenter theme the rest of the score sucks. Much of the film just seems to be a Halloween episode of a teen drama.
Anyway I would recommend the film, because it isn't the worse 3 out of 5.
