Review of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) by Lloyd D — 14 Feb 2010
Thou they did try hard with this sequel it doesnt really come off despite the good performances from Pleasance and Harris. Micheal survives being blown down a mine shaft and one year later returns to kill his niece once again targeting all those around her to ensure he wins. My 1st gripe and any Halloween fan could back me up on this is why kill Rachel so early??? She went from the tough survior to a bubblehead bimbo in this one and her death considering what she knew from 4 is stupid and higly unlikey. Why didnt they give her a heroines death? And not a wimpy one? Also why keep Tina alive for so long??? God she was so bubbly it bordered on annoying. I swear the lass would laugh at a plane crash.
My other gripes is thu Plesance is a great actor I cant stand it when he whimpers as he sounds like an old man on his deathbed and since when was Micheals childhood home a oversized mansion???
The film has it moments and a few good kill scenes with two dumb coppers you cant help but love but its a step down from part 4.
