Review of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) by Kenneth D — 30 Oct 2013
Possibly one of the best halloween movies. I realize, others opinions hold true for the films inability to convey any real significance to John Carpenter's first installment of the series, but I believe many established this after Halloween II bombed accordingly.
However, what's striking to me as a viewer in this film, is the previous connection we have the protagonist Jamie, her half-sister Rachel, who gets knifed about a half hour into the film and the most ridiculous personality we may ever encounter in film, Tina.
Wendy Kaplan, as an actress in this film did so much justice, for bringing light to a slasher flick. I felt like this was the only adaption to the series that reminded me of the simplicity Halloween I holds for introducing us to the characters and letting us get to know them in a positive light, before going all grim on us.
There were so many moments I was rooting for her to stay alive, while Jamie warned her. This film is pretty good adaption to the series and if I were you i'd give it a second chance.
