Review of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) by Hollie T — 01 Nov 2011
Blargh. I'm sort of upset that I watched this but it's been so long since I've seen the sequels to Halloween (besides 2 and 3..from what I gather..the only good sequels...) that I almost feel it's necessary to watch them now.
Someone said this goes back to it's roots, by not relying on gore to make it "scary," yeah, well, it didn't have gore and it definitely didn't have scares OR atmosphere. There was no character development at all and you're left fairly confused because the backstory is so damn vague you're left wondering exactly what the point is, besides the uproar of Myers fans after watching Season of the Witch, resulting in the pumping out of this mediocre, at best, sequel.
Although it has proven my point that Danielle Harris' acting skills peeked in 1988, so something good came from this. Donald Pleasance is top billed but barely in the movie, when he is in the movie, he's not reeeaaally here.
He's done such amazing work but this is in the Puma Man ranks. Oh, and don't even get me started on Myers mask, coveralls and overall demeanor.
