Review of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) by Christopher S — 06 Oct 2012
Although it pales in comparison to Halloween, Halloween II and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, "HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS" is still a worthy sequel. This entry follows Laurie's daughter, Jamie Lloyd (played by Danielle Harris, a newcomer to the series), who after Laurie dies in a car accident, is now adopted by the Carruthers family.
However, being related to Laurie usually gets you killed, and soon enough Michael returns from the grave to hunt down Jamie, and kill off one of the remaining members of his family. Predictable, yes it is, but the music is good, the cinematography is good and the set design is wonderful.
One plus is also that Donald Pleasence returns as Dr. Samuel Loomis. It could have been better, and I really liked the ending (although it didn't carry over to Halloween 5). I'll give this film a very strong 4/5.
