So letâ(TM)s just clear up one thing before I start writing this.

I love the Halloween movies. Every single piece of shit one that has followed 1978â(TM)s masterpiece by director John Carpenter. Theyâ(TM)re awful, theyâ(TM)re campy as hell but they are just guilty pleasures of mine that make zero sense.

So this movie scraps all those. Period.

Being a direct sequel to the original, we find our heroine Lori Strode, now a broken woman. Divorced, alcoholic and still haunted by the events of that fateful fright night years before, this movie does an AMAZING job at displaying to us the psychological and physical torture this woman has gone through, and what else has suffered because of it as we get to know her family throughout the movie. A perfect picture display of PTSD, Jamie Lee Curtis is flawless in this film.

As is my favorite knife wielding psychopath,.

Michael Myers.

To say he is the personification of pure evil still doesnâ(TM)t do it justice, and this movie shows that. Relentless in his pursuit and vicious in his ways of going about it, when Michael Myers is on screen doing MICHAEL MYERS TYPE SHIT,.

THIS MOVIE IS GOLDEN.

Director David Gordon Green does an incredible job of bringing back the fear that comes along with the character. Three scenes in particular when youâ(TM)re watching a character on the screen, then you suddenly see âthe bodyâ? silhouette begin to appear in the background, creating that slow build towards a fast and gruesome death. ITâ(TM)S SO GOOD.

But unfortunately, the movie does not just consist of those killings for a solid hour and forty five minutes. Its because of some ill written comedy, that literally has NO PLACE being in a movie like this.

It takes away from the suspense that was built two minutes prior, along with a side plot that literally does not service to the plot, are reasons as to why this wonâ(TM)t go down as a classic like the original. NOW DONâ(TM)T GET ME WRONG, this is not a bad movie. Frankly, its actually quite good. But my expectations were high for this, and when fluff begins to outweigh Michaelâ(TM)s return and the killings that follow, it left a sour taste in my mouth that couldnâ(TM)t let me give this anything higher than a B.

This Halloween, if you get a chance, give Halloween your two hours and see what you think.

Grade : B.
