Its painfully unoriginal which would be fine if it at least made an attempt of being scary or make good characters. Instead we got so many subplots and too many characters that we dont care about. Too much screentime is given to people that die off screen as well. Very safe. What makes it worse is Mcbride's rather cringy writing. Why are they trying to make us laugh whilst watching Halloween? Seriously. These people dont understand the original at all. But listening to carptenter himself saying how Gordon made it his own movie, its now painfully clear that Carpenter had very little to do here. Other than to probably give a few tips on Michaels appearance, behavior and music. The funny thing here however is that they wanted to forget the past and start fresh. And the way they did that... was to copy the ever living hell out of the original film INCLUDING Rob Zombie's remake. Michael is so violent and brutal in using physical force to smash people against stuff. And its just... not at all like Michael was in the past. He was a quick killer, silent and effecient. Not a brawler.

Zombie didn't get that. Gordon doesn't either. On top of that we got an almost full female cast by the end of the movie which makes sense since it was always the women Michael was hunting primarily. Problem is we dont give a damn about 2 of them. Only Laurie. The daughter was busy running around the whole movie and screaming in the forest. And Judy Greer was busy being a sceptic till the last 20 minutes of the film. Coming across as tedious and annoying. GREAT writing...

But what kills is for me is the ending. How we see the three girls in the van, driving away after presumably leaving michael to burn ( which doesn't kill him as Halloween 2 proved nor will it here because we dont even see him die...) No. We get a god damn Halloween 4 RIP-OFF... when we see the daughter holding a kitchen knife in the van. Before fading to black.

What...do you honestly think that means? IF you've seen Halloween 4. Come on. Its so god damn low energy, Gordon. You ripped off everything you could from existing material and called it a new chapter. Its one of the biggest copy-and paste pieces of cinematography I've ever seen. Even outdoing Star Wars The Force Awakens... and that freaking says something. 2 out of 5 stars. Below average, low effort, low energy safe reboot. Has comedic elements which dont belong, Danny Mcbride writing which CERTAINLY doesn't belong in a horror movie... jesus christ, and after Michael kills the journalists, the film becomes a boring, predictable chore.

People are letting their blind nostalgia control their senses. Go watch the original and even halloween 2, then watch this again and you'll see just how crap it actually is. Its overhyped. And doesn't deliver at all. Its opening is strong but once Michael escapes and we spend so much bloody time with Laurie's dysfucntional as hell family thats living a dream world which is utterly ridiculous considering this universe, and cliche... once this crap transpires the film just turns to absolutely contrived drivel. I was just waiting for it to end. More I saw, lower the score got.

Gordon, you're a god damn hack.
