Review of Halloween (2018) by Stuart H — 23 Oct 2018
Being a huge fan of the Halloween franchise whilst still seeing that some of the sequels were quite bad I had mixed feelings about whether the Halloween 2018 sequel was going to live up to a modern day audience and meet my own expectations.
I am so pleased to say it did in a BIG WAY. I loved it! I thought it had a good balance of staying true to the original simplistic concept whilst bringing up to date for a modern audience and critical fans.
There were so many subtle references/symbols from the other Halloween films and being a fan I thought they were really well introduced without being cheesy or obvious. The mask was spot on...again staying true to the original.
John Carpenters score was well thought out, scary when it needed to be and intriguing throughout which kept the suspense. I could go on for ages about the film but I think everyone involved have done a fantastic job on putting the slasher film back on the map.
Go see it!
