Review of Halloween (2018) by Marc D — 18 Oct 2018
As most of you know by now the 1978 original is a movie that I hold dear to my heart and is one of my nine perfect movies. So, going into this I knew I wasn't going to get that, but I was hoping for a good time with a couple of scares.
What I got was like the original a really good horror movie and a really good movie all in one. Picking up forty years after the original and ignoring all the sequels makes this really easy to watch. One of the things I like was the erased the brother sister aspect of the Michael's and Laurie's relationship to get Michael back to the random shark like killer.
The acting is really good for the most part, but again that helps when you hire real actors. I love Laurie's story arc through the whole movie and Jamie Lee Curtis plays it to perfection. Also a shout out to Judy Greer and Andi Matichak for playing Laurie's daughter and granddaughter who have their own ways with coping with Lauire's PTSD from 40 years earlier.
The rest of the cast good to okay nothing really bad and the director made you care about them. Though Will Patton is sadly wasted in this movie. With that said that is my only gripe about this movie.
It gave me the chills and proved Michael is the embodiment of pure evil. After all is said and done though not perfect this is a damn fine movie and a very strong movie.
