Halloween (2018), now the ONE true sequel to the 1978 film - written and directed by David Gordon Green, written in part by Danny McBride, and wow, I really enjoyed this film. This is an excellent horror film and a great sequel, scary as hell! David Gordon Green does a fantastic job creating suspenseful atmosphere here, as well as with the amazing, long tracking shots of Michael Myers as he stalks his next victim. With the use of silence in certain scenes, paired with the brutal kills, this is easily one of my favorite horror films this year, right next to A Quiet Place.

One thing this script does quite well is building upon the lore of The Shape and laying to rest some issues or questions you may have had with many of the previous sequels or remakes.

Seeing as how Danny McBride wrote part of this script, I feel it's safe to say some of the more grounded comedic moments in the film came from his hand. If you've ready any of my horror/thriller reviews, you'll know I am generally not a fan of the way comedy is sprinkled throughout; just look at how I felt about The Nun. With this film, I loved the comedic elements, where they were placed to add some humanity and a lighter air in those moments. But I know these moments will rub some others the wrong way, and that's perfectly fine. Of course the music from John Carpenter just puts you in the zone seeing this film on the big screen too. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie suffering from PTSD all those years, she knocks this role out of the park, as expected; she is THE scream queen. This time around she's calculating, manipulative, lethal - everything she brings adds that much to the story. And Nick Castle reprising his role as Michael Myers, just as menacing as ever!
