Review of Halloween (2018) by Bryan A — 19 Oct 2018
Big Halloween franchise fan here. I thought it was good, but not great. It honored the original at times. Doctor character was bad and the 3rd act was anti-climactic compared to H20 or H2. I thought the humor was good in order to break up the Horror/suspense.
It just fell flat overall. The best parts were in the 2nd act when Michael is wandering around. I know it had Easter eggs and had semi-tributes to the movies in the franchise, but it felt like it was a summary of all the films in one, which is not a good thing.
James Jude Courtney did a good job, except he walked around a little weird at times, but so did Dick Warlock. With that said overall he did a good job as Myers. It was surprisingly not better than H2 though IMO.
Maybe it's the nostalgia factor. I was hoping for "Mr. Sandman" to pop up at some point on a radio or something. They obviously are making another one. The numbers should be there.
