Review of Halloween (2018) by Nitpicker . — 19 Oct 2018
Michael Myers has been waiting for this night to escape (again). He's being transferred to another prison (again). He's going to steal a car (again). He's going to walk among trick or treaters and kill random people in their house (again). He's going to go after Laurie Strode (again).
Pros.
-The mask looks great.
-This movie proves that you can't catch lightening in a bottle twice.
-This movie proves Halloween is nothing without Donald Pleasence.
Cons.
-It's all hype.
-It does not meet expectations if you're a fan.
-The movie feels unfinished.
-Brings nothing new to the table.
-There was nothing original.
-Felt like a cash grab.
-Wasn't scary.
-Rehashes the same plot from the first one: He escapes, gets the car......
-British podcasters were a waste of time.
-Laurie's daughter and granddaughter are unlikable.
-They don't show how Michael survived getting shot by Loomis and falling from the balcony. The coolest ending is horror history and they don't acknowledge it.
-They don't show how they captured Michael.
Final Thoughts:
I watch Halloween every October. And I've been doing that for 25 years. The new Halloween is a major let down. Part 2 and part 4 were better than this.
Hell, I was more excited about the Happy Death Day 2U trailer that was before this.
