Review of Halloween (2007) by Angela W — 09 Feb 2012
It's just unfortunate (and ironic) that, in Zombie's attempts at making everything bigger, bolder and more modern than the original, he ends up resorting to horror cliches, the finished product resembling Carpenter's fright fest in name alone.
Michael Myers becomes a man-mountain, Zombie becomes more focused on the body count than the atmosphere it should be building and the murders become more gruesome than ever. By no means is it terrible - in fact, it's a very well made film and is technically impressive.
It's just that, as an audience, when we really don't care about the characters being impaled with knives every five seconds, something's wrong with either our morals or the filmmaking and, I've got to tell you, I'm feeling fine.
