Review of Halloween (2007) by Jesus C — 14 Feb 2014
Why is it that horror movie remakes insist on a deep origin story for the villain, and trying to get us to sympathize with them. When will they learn villains are scarier when we don't know as much about them instead of dredging up their past and making it seem like they're killing for a good reason.
Why should they be? It's stupid. And whats worse is how unlikable they made Laurie, the main character from the original, almost so annoyingly bitchy it's like we're rooting for Michael. This remake offers a in-depth origin story for our killer, but its futile and stupid and therefore leaves us with a useless retread of the horror classic.
