Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Pennie H — 07 Mar 2017
Rarely have I seen such a compelling story told so poorly. After a slow, cliche, and sometimes touching beginning it turns into one of the bloodiest and least realistic war films in years. The battle scenes are full of Rambo-like imagery - soldiers who stand up to talk on the front line, enemies who line up in rows to be mowed down, and guns that never run out of bullets.
It doesn't hold a candle to Saving Private Ryan.
