I rate this movie 4.0 stars. That's 3.50 stars for the story + 0.50 stars for nostalgia value.

I actually saw the movie Hachiko in Japan 20 years ago and stood by Hachiko's statue in Shibuya many times. So I watched this movie with a critical eye and when it was all said and done, I thought Hachi was well done. Where the original Hachiko focused on the dog, I found Hachi to focus a bit more on the actual humans and provided more "filling" compared to the original story.
