Review of Gunga Din (1939) by Peter P — 30 Aug 2011
The loose adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's poem "Gunga Din" may not prove an especially substantial one in terms of story, but it easily gets by on account of its superb staging of action (credit director George Stevens and editors Henry Berman and John Lockert).
It also makes an effective star vehicle for Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and Victor McLaglen, whose onscreen repartee is most enjoyable to watch.
