Review of Gunga Din (1939) by Anna L — 10 Apr 2011
George Stevens' enjoyable and entertaining adventure film, starring the always funny and charismatic Cary Grant as the british sgt. Archibald Cutteralong with with his three army drinking budies MacChansney and Ballantine played by Victor McLaglen and Douglas Fairbaks Jr.
And Sam Jaffe in the title role as the Indian servant Gunga Din who supports our heroes any times and place no matter what. You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din! Gunga Din is a wonderful and exhilarating film, you can see that Spielberg's Temple of Doom is inspiered by the exhilarating fun adventure.
"Though I've belted you and flayed you, By the livin' Gawd that made you, You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!".
