Review of Grudge Match (2013) by John M — 04 Mar 2014
Who would win in a fight between Raging Bull and Rocky, a pub argument but never a film.
Well bugger me sideways someone's pub argument has made it to the silver screen. Probably the worst drunk bet since Snakes on a Plane. At least Snakes on a Plane new its limits and had a few laughs. Grudge Match doesn't even have the dignity of being a B-Movie.
Henry "Razor" Sharp (Stallone) and Billy "The Kid" McDonnen (De Niro) play two 1980's rival boxer, who's record against each other is 1 win each. They never made it to a third fight as "Razor" retired after the second fight, due to personal issues with "The Kid".
It's not funny, the CGI segments look cheap, and the whole premise is just ridiculous.
It's the boxing equivalent of "Last of the Summer Wine" it's just missing a bathtub go-cart.
