Review of Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) by Diego M — 27 May 2010
There was quite a bit that I liked about this and quite a bit that I didn't like. I liked the basic story. Having the gremlins mutate was a fun idea. Except for the brain and the woman. I really can't give you many specific things I liked about the movie. It's just that most of it was fun. But it had its flaws.
Some of the flaws weren't exactly horrible, they just should have been better. A lot of this movie was just too goofy. I know that the first one was goofy, but that was was like a normal movie that happened to be goofy and corny in a fun way. This one didn't pretend to be a real movie, it took itself for more of a spoof movie than anything. Like how they stepped out of the movie. I really hate when movies do that. It's not funny. What I mean is when they acknowledged the first Gremlins movie as a movie. Or when they pretended to have the movie reel break.
But when I remember the movie in my mind, I can erase all of those things and the movie's kinda good without them. But with them, it's just mediocre.
