Review of Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) by Jason D — 23 Feb 2015
Thanks to considerably great demand, the entire gang returns for another fun and exciting entry in the Gremlins series. Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates return as the small-town couple now working for a major corporation that has many different outlets, including a science lab (ran by the great Christopher Lee) that has captured little Gizmo.
Before Galligan can take Gizmo away from the lab, he comes into contact with water, thus created more mogwai who, of course, eat after midnight and begin spreading more foul Gremlins within the concealed building where lots of mayhem, creature violence, and plenty of comedy (a bit more slapstick) ensues.
Also returning are the Futermans (Dick Miller and Jackie Joseph) as well as directing great Joe Dante for this great, though a tiny bit inferior sequel. Lots of new types of awesome Gremlins are introduced, thanks to some cleverly written storylines, as well as fun special effects.
While this film is great to watch, I still find the original a tad bit better, but that's not to say Gremlins 2 isn't good. It's a great film. Honestly, I really wish there were more Gremlin movies.
I could watch these endlessly.
