Review of Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) by Ifiok O — 25 Dec 2013
Gremlins 2: The New Batch is the much more hyper and out of control sibling to the first film. The script takes many pains to be self-referential, breaking the fourth wall ever so often, and retreading previously explored gags.
And the effects are pretty impressive, and the Gremlins do look plenty intimidating at their best.. But by taking the comedy up several notches higher, the plot itself does seem to take a bit of a backseat, but that seemed inevitable.
Regardless, the movie does serve as a decently crafted follow-up to the first film, and for some, it probably succeeds as a worthy sequel.
