I am a big fan of the comic book character Green Lantern and waiting for this film to be made has felt like a lifetime. Sadly, its a major disappointment. I understand that its aimed at 10 year olds and I tried my hardest to look at it through the eyes of a 10 year old that grew up reading the Green Lantern comics.

But I felt no hint of nostalgia or enjoyment whatsoever. The pacing is all over the place and the plot lacks direction. Considering the entire film is all virtually CG, its awful and boring. I was so shocked when I realised that this was directed Martin Campbell.

I loved what he did with the James Bond films 'Goldeneye' and 'Casino Royale' but by his standards this is awful. I wasn't impressed with the cast either. I can't stand Ryan Reynolds, I think he's such an overrated actor.

Mark Strong's acting capabilities are not taken full advantage of and his performance is ruined by all the motion capture CG effects. And last but not least, why is Tim Robbins in this film? By his standards this is embarrassing.

The Green Lantern is pop corn fun for kids, but it lacks the ability to appeal to anybody else. I can only hope there is a remake in the near future and that character is reinvented in an original way similar to Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman franchise.

This film doesn't come close to any of the super hero films nowadays and is in my opinion wasted potential and a complete flop.
